This is a really good book for learning bioinformatics. You can do the exercise and test it online. This book is best followed with the Bioinformatics Specialization courses at Coursera, and I have bought this book as offline companion for the same.

I will give a more detailed review once I finish all the courses and complete this and Vol 2 Bioinformatics Algorithms: An Active Learning Approach, 2nd Ed.

The production values that have gone into designing this book is top notch, and the content is explained just about right to hold the attention of both biologists and computer scientists.
